Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how UhuruSpace ("UhuruSpace," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information across uhuruspace.com and the UhuruSpace web application (together, the "Service") — the platform businesses use to manage appointments, reservations, classes, check-ins, staff, customers, and their own public storefront.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When a business owner or a team member creates an account, we collect their name, email address, phone number, and business details (business name, address, hours, currency, and similar settings) via Firebase Authentication and our database.
Customer information entered by a business.Businesses using UhuruSpace enter their own customers' details — name, email, phone number, booking history, and notes — to run their bookings. UhuruSpace processes this information on the business's behalf; the business is responsible for having the right to collect and share it with us.
Uploaded content. Businesses may upload images for services, staff profiles, and their storefront. These are stored via Google Cloud Storage.
Usage and technical data. We collect standard technical information — device and browser type, IP address, and log data — to operate and secure the Service.
2. Google user data (Calendar integration)
A business can optionally connect a staff member's Google Calendar so their UhuruSpace bookings stay in sync with their calendar. When they do, we request:
- Access to view and manage events on the connected Google Calendar, so a booking made or changed in UhuruSpace creates, updates, or removes the matching calendar event, and vice versa.
- The connected Google account's email address, to identify which account is connected.
UhuruSpace's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. This data is used solely to provide the calendar-sync feature described above — it is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with third parties except as needed to provide that feature. Access by UhuruSpace staff is limited to what's necessary for security, debugging, or legal compliance with your consent.
A business can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from Settings → Integrations, or by removing UhuruSpace's access directly from their Google Account permissions. Disconnecting stops future syncing; it does not delete bookings already created in either system.
3. How we use information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Process bookings and keep a business's calendar, storefront, and records up to date.
- Send transactional email — booking confirmations, reminders, receipts — via our email provider.
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:
- Google Cloud / Firebase — hosting, authentication, database, and file storage for the entire Service.
- SendGrid — delivery of transactional email (booking confirmations, reminders, receipts).
- Stripe — only if a business chooses to connect their own Stripe account to accept payments from their customers. In that case, payment details are handled directly by Stripe under Stripe's own privacy policy; UhuruSpace does not store card numbers.
- Google Calendar — only for businesses that connect it, as described in Section 2.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where required by law.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser storage only for essential, functional purposes — keeping you signed in, remembering interface preferences, and caching settings for faster loading. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies today. See our Cookie Policy for details.
6. Data retention
We retain account and business data for as long as an account is active. If a business closes their account, we delete or anonymize their data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep records for legal, tax, or security reasons.
7. Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at support@uhuruspace.com. If you're a customer of a business that uses UhuruSpace, that business controls your data as the data controller — we'd recommend contacting them directly first; we'll assist them as needed.
8. Data security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encrypted transport, access controls, and Firebase security rules scoped per business — to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for business use and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
10. International users
Our infrastructure runs on Google Cloud, which may process and store data in countries other than your own. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and where a change is material, we'll let you know by email or an in-app notice.
